Dark Souls III is an action RPG, the fourth game in the Souls series. It was developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game first released in Japan in March 2016 and then it released worldwide in April 2016.
Like the previous games, Dark Souls III is also an action role-playing game that is played from the third-person perspective. Players in the game can use all kinds of weapons to battle their enemies, from bows to throwable weapons to swords. Shields can also be used in the game, but not as weapons, rather as secondary equipment which you can use to protect yourself from incoming damage, such as melee attacks and projectiles. Each weapon in the game has a normal attack and a more powerful version that can be charged up. Besides the shields, players can also use dodge-rolling to escape any form of incoming damage.
Bonfires that you find in Dark Souls III are used as checkpoints. Magic is also featured in the game and it uses the "focus points" system that was shown in Demon Souls. There are two types of Estus Flasks in the game as well, one that fills up your health pool and the other that restores your focus points.
Combat is also much more fluid in this game, with certain actions being much quicker than in previous games. Certain types of player movement like swinging heavy weapons and backstepping can now be done much quicker which greatly increases the flow of combat.
